RISO SP-275 ScreenFax Image Processor

Important Notice

SP-275 ScreenFax has been discontinued by manufacturing company RISO Kagaku Corporation and replaced with teh NEHOC A3 Thermal Screen Maker.

Details of te replacement model - click here . .

The RISO system uses a simple thermal process to transfer your design onto the screen printing mesh ready for printing in minutes, without chemicals, dark rooms, special light or wash up procedures involved.

Welcome to the simple screen printing system - the RISO system - where your design is placed onto a screen printing screen ready for printing in minutes using a simple, chemical free, process you can perform on a bench top. That’s right, no dark rooms, special UV lights, no wash up procedures involved and importantly no chemicals.

The RISO SP-275 system is so versatile it can span all the printing applications you read about in this web site. The SP-275 can be combined with every single product we carry for a printing applications in some form - and this is just the start of its capabilities. We’ll outline why the RISO screen printing system is easier to use than traditional screen printing methods [chemical & hand cutting], how it will benefit you and the different systems available to help you get started.

Making a screen with RISO SP-275
The key is the unique RISO ScreenMaster mesh [pictured left] which is a ‘lamination’ of polyester mesh and a specially formulated plastic film - pre-coated enabling it to be handled and imaged BEFORE it is put onto a frame for printing without changing/ distorting the design.
By using a simple carbon design, commonly a photocopy or laser print, the fine thermal film [the pre-coated side on the ScreenMaster mesh] is burnt away during the thermal imaging process. The imaging process can be performed on a bench top in any light conditions.

The SP-275 has a unique adjustment dial [pictured left] which changes the intensity of the ‘flash’ enabling all types and sizes of RISO ScreenMaster mesh to be imaged with any style of design - bold or fine line. This ability to change the intensity of the flash is similar to altering exposure times for traditional screens, however regardless of the intensity the SP-275 imaging time is still 1/1000 of a second.

Imaging a screen is as fast as a ‘flash’ - although it’s actually heat which creates the screen. By placing the artwork against the RISO ScreenMaster mesh film [smooth] side, as this is the side that will burn way exposing the design area, the combination are inserted into the stage area of the SP-275. The handle is lowered and the screen imaged in 1/1000 of a second using a completely dry, safe process. You are now only one minute away from printing.

Once the ScreenMaster has been ‘flashed’, and the design transferred onto the screen, it is attached to a pre-taped frame mount using double sided tape. With the unique pre-tensioned ScreenMaster mesh you do not have to use stretching equipment to fasten the screen to the frame mount - just your fingers. A variety of frame sizes are available, plus you can easily create your own custom sizes.

With your screen framed - you are ready to begin printing immediately.

The above are just a few examples of the RISO SP-275's applications - there are also the many T.A.F.E. Colleges, High Schools, Universities, Artists, Ceramicist, etc.
 SP-275 versatility & flexibility

Providing extreme versatility and low cost printing from the one piece of equipment was difficult to find, however the SP-275 offers you this, plus much more, due to it’s electronic operation and adjustable ‘flash’ intensity as described above.

Built with solid state circuitry, the SP-275’s adjustable imaging feature enables ultra fine 135 mesh to be used along with standard 70 mesh in all sizes and lengths. Larger screens are simply imaged in stages through the machine.

The SP-275 is an ideal system for establishing a new screen printing operation, especially where the operators do not have professional experience - RISO makes it fast and simple.

RISO is also used in established screen printing operations by meeting many short run/ niche printing applications, plus is used for samples and other items where traditional methods prove too time consuming and expensive.

 The Complete System

RISO SP-275 with Screen printign setupFabric Printing - Combine RISO SP-275, RISO ScreenMaster [70 Mesh], frame mounts, squeegee, fabric screen printing inks and begin immediately.

Plastics, Metals and Non-absorbent Materials - Fine grade RISO ScreenMaster 135 mesh is required, along with ‘off contact’ printing process onto may items. For professional results, and a faster method of printing, a screen printing jig may be required - plus other materials and accessories depending upon the materials/items/sizes you wish to print.

RISO SP-275 with PRINT GOCCO systems

PRINT GOCCO Printing - Along with all the screen printing applications and possibilities, the RISO SP-275 combines with all PRINT GOCCO printing systems as a replacement to using the Print Lamps for imaging Print Masters.
