By creating screen printing screens using RISO ScreenMaster, students can explore their design talents and place their designs onto garments quickly using a simple method.
The Design Brief: By studying an existing manufacturers product range, take a garment and modify the design, plus add a screen print to the garment to enhance its appearance.
The time frame provided for this entire project was only 3 weeks, this included research, manufacturing of the garment, printing and display. As you can imagine the screen printing section was a critical element of the brief, however could not monopolise the time available as the garment still had to be manufactured [the core part of the course]. The NEHOC system enabled screens to be created and printed in a single lesson, ensuring students had more time available to create their garment.
This exercise simply could not be achieved using traditional screen printing methods due to it's excessive time and cost constraints.
Once again RISO ScreenMaster screen printing mesh has provided teachers with a simple, fast and low cost method of fabric decoration, with stunning results.
This is another practical example of how the NEHOC system is used in the education sector, in this instance by East Sydney TAFE. A special thank you to Fiona Whillas of East Sydney Fashion Manufacturing for providing the pictures of her students work.
