This is the photograph I started out with, ft is a photograph Of a recent sunset outside army house. The
original was shot On 35 mm film using a Nikon N8O SLR camera and then translated to a photo disk which was created by the photo processor. The photos were manipulated via the software provided on the disk. The pictures were then imported into Powerpoint and adjusted to change the pictures to black and white images (which further eliminated the gray areas of the original pictures.) I then added some registration lines around each of the images. I also made a template of registration lines which I stuck to the sticky pad and used to register my paper and artwork for the screens. All 3 screens were flashed using the blue filter.1) Screen 1 was manipulated and the contrast and sharpness were changed drastically to produce an abstracted image. I used only the yellow and bright green inks, separated by the foam blocking.
2) Screen 2 was also a manipulated version which included areas of the trees and bushes as well. I used fluorescent pink, orange and light purple ink.
3) Screen 3 eliminated the sky to show only the silhouette of the trees and bushes. I used only the process blue ink on the final screen.
If I were to do this over again, I would have not used the light purple on screen 2 and would have tried a
darker color, perhaps just the fluorescent pink and orange or a light green. I printed the images on 3 different colors of acid free paper. A light natural with flecks, a white and a cream color. A total of 60 prints were made with about 35 fully successful prints (some loss of color occurred at the end of the run). out or the 3 colors of papers, I liked the prints made on the natural paper the best. This was a great project and after I got over my initial fear or the multi-screen print, I had a greet time with it! I hope we do something like this again soon!![]() | ![]() |
