Having already sent two different versions of the ocean view out the front for previous
GOCCO exchanges, I decided to scan a photo of my Rainforest Garden which is down the back of our property.
The photo was scanned into Photoshop using a white dot screen, a
filter Artistic, Poster Edges was applied and Image Mode CMYK channels
created. Carbon content was toned down using Image,
Adjust Curves. I wasn't entirely happy with the full
colour print on hand made paper so I printed a second version on Somerset
white printing paper and I am sending both prints.
The first print using three screens was printed on hand made paper of one third ginger lily stems and two thirds a mix of matt board, linen paper, cotton linters and Kozo paper. I was aware that lining up would be more difficult on hand made paper with wavy edges rather than a straight edge but I decided to try. The screens were imaged on a ScreenFax SP-275, and printed with a PG-11 using Process colours, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. These prints vary depending on alignment of each print and other colours showing through.
They look more like my Rainforest garden in the drought!
For the second print on Somerset white
[pictured left] I used two screens.
For a the first screen I printed Mauve for some background definition of the tree trunks (a small section of this first print on plain cardstock is enclosed). This was overprinted with Pearl Green which seemed to work better than other greens which were dulled by the Mauve background.
I hope you enjoy my prints.
