A Backward Glance
A Backward Glance was printed in 4 layers, using a variety of methods to image each layer.
The first two layers (wall, window, and table top backgrounds) were created from Illustrator and Photoshop and printed with the laser printer.
The third layer was created using hand written text (written with Rollerball black pen) and a page torn out of an old textbook. I flashed the screen directly (without the blue filter) - the Rollerball black pen did not image but the textbook page did. I then scanned the hand written text and printed it out on the laser printer, and reflashed the missing section with the laser printer output.
The fourth layer was a combination of scanned clip art (the scene out the window) that I printed with the laser printer and hand drawn lines and dots using a black Sharpie pen. I flashed the image without the blue filter. Yes, I was living dangerously! I decided to give it a try since the lines (from the clip art) were fairly fine, so I thought I could possibly get away with it. The Sharpie pen lines were actually more iffy - see how the brow outlines had dropouts through out? The original lines were solid, but apparently not enough carbon to image completely? Or something like that...
