Metallic fabric inksMetallic Fabric Ink

Product Code: FI-101, FI-102, FI-103 & FI-104

Metallic ink's are similar to opaque base as they contain up to four times more pigment than standard ink to provide a solid coverage of ink onto black and dark fabrics, stopping the colour of the material showing through.

Suited to printing 100% cotton through to 100% polyester, and all blends/ mixtures in between, Metallic fabric inks do not require a white base coat to be pre-printed under colours for solid coverage (as with old style Permaset inks).

A thicker ink due to the high levels of pigments, Metallic inks can be mixed with Retarder to make the ink 'wetter' and more workable during printing. Retarder mixes with the base of the ink to thin the ink without thinning the pigment, adding water thins the ink, but also thins the pigments as well.

Printing Metallic ink is the same as printing opaque's, with a modification to the standard printing technique as the screen must be elevated above the item by 5-7mm to enable the full amount of ink to flow through onto the garment and not get stuck in the screen. Full details of this process are on Information Sheet #34 - Printing Opaque Inks.

Heat Setting

Fabric inks require heat setting to activate the pigments and set the ink to the material.
